Description

A rare and very unusual large cylindrical Charles II tankard with elegant contemporary acanthus leaf embossing to the lower body.  The lid is hinged with additional acanthus leaf workmanship and a fabulous twined scrolling foliage thumb piece.  The handle is scroll formed and has a unique central “rib” decoration for highlights.

 

Weight:  28 troy ounces/874 grams

Height:  7.25 inches/18.5cm

Length:  9 inches/23cm (back of handle to front of rim)

Condition:  Excellent throughout.  Extremely rare to see a Charles II acanthus leaf tankard designed like this.  Completely unique example.
